Bad Brains
Bad Brains

There is melodicism underneath all the thrash on this self-titled
debut album from Bad Brains. I can hear it on the first track,
"Sailin' On," as H.R. sings "You don't want me anymore / so I'll just
walk right out the door / played a game right from the start / I trust
you, you used me / and now my heart's all torn apart." There's an
emotional directness there I respect. The same honesty is channelled
into rage on tracks like "Banned in D.C." and "Pay To Cum." Adam
Yauch of the Beastie Boys believes that this is "the best
punk/hardcore album of all time." It says so on the album cover, thus
it must be true.
