Heart of a Legend
Chico O'Farrill
|
This album is perfect listening on a hot summer night, Latin jazz
enthusiastically played by an impressive roster of musicians. It was also a
good introduction to O'Farrill's work for me. Everyone in the Chico O'Farrill
Afro-Cuban Jazz Big Band works hard on "Momentum," while Freddie Jones croons
big-band-blues-style on "Sing Your Blues Away (For Neca)." I love the
lounginess of "Te Quiero Dijiste" with its ethereal flutes and breathy female
voices (not to mention Gato Barbieri on tenor sax), and "Manteca" puts a smile
on my face every time. More please!
