I'm very glad I stumbled onto this album, which features ambient techno
with a hint of insular angst. The blend of influences becomes apparent
with a partial list of contributors: Peter Gabriel, Brian Eno, Thurston
Moore, Ian McCullough. "Swallow Crystals" sets primal drumbeats against
flickers of white noise, while "All Wise Fly (Pneuma)" throws some free
jazz horns into the mix. I think my favorite track on the album is
the cover of Syd Barrett's "Golden Hair", which is liltingly sung by
Clodagh Simond, and which reminded me how grateful I am that I recently
discovered Syd Barrett. Recommended for those who love Mezzanine,
and that would be pretty much everybody, right?
