Against the Grain
Bad Religion
|
Bouncy L.A. punk. Greg Griffin sings forcefully about the self-absorption of contemporary society, and he makes his position very clear on the first track "Modern Man": "modern man, evolutionary betrayer...ecosystem destroyer...destroy yourself in shame...pathetic example of earth's organic heritage." Even though this album came out ten years ago, these sentiments still make sense. "Faith Alone" is a moving argument against hiding behind your religion instead of fighting for social justice. But along with idealism comes frustration, and the album ends with "Walk Away". Sometimes you just have to give up. Until you get a new burst of energy, that is.
