Pensive college rock. Roddy Frame sings a song or four about love and relationships, from the New Wave classic "Oblivious" with its sighing background singers to the jaunty little hum-a-long about heartbreak "Pillar to Post." Most of these songs sound quite cheerful on the surface, though the plaintive "We Could Send Letters" stands out for its quiet air. "Walk out to Winter" continues the feeling of nostalgia and anticipated meetings that began in "Oblivious": "Walk out to winter, swear I'll be there/Chance is buried just below the blinding snow." You can hear him clinging to his idealism and expecting the disappointment at the same time.
