Invoke
Arto Lindsay
|
With this album Lindsay continues the drift into experimentation that
I am familiar with from Noon Chill and Prize. There are
still shades of Brazilian music on Invoke, but that's just a
starting point. The beats are often shifted and distorted and looped,
or they're very deeply layered under horn and string arrangements.
Lindsay sings over all of this in his hypnotic and lilting voice,
occasionally accompanied by Vinícius Cantuária (who has
worked with everyone from Ryuichi Sakamoto to Laurie Anderson and who
contributes not only his vocals but expertise on cardboard box). I
have been actively interested in Arto Lindsay's music for a little
while now, and I can't wait to see where he goes next.
