Sex Mob
|
Thoroughly modern and creative jazz. Though Sex Mob's original pieces are great, their irreverent covers of songs by Kurt Cobain, Duke Ellington, Jerry Garcia, and the Rolling Stones (among others) just kick ass. The entire album is fun to listen to, and its rambunctious jazz even has a hint of turntablism thrown in here and there that made my ears perk. You can easily envision this music getting the crowd in a dark and smoky New Orleans club onto their feet and boogying down. I just like a band that plays this exuberantly and still keeps their sense of humor.
