Long Story Short
Sekou Sundiata
|
I just recently saw Sekou Sundiata do his amazing blend of spoken word and music
live when he opened for Ani DiFranco. Aimee, who had never heard him before that night, immediately determined that she must own this album. Sekou's voice and his poetry make the listening experience pleasurable to begin with, but he also has a full band backing him who turn his pieces into pure beauty. He addresses
his concerns about race and culture in a way that doesn't alienate the listener, it's more like you're having a really good discussion with him in a hip coffee shop in the Village.
