I have trouble classifying the electronic music I listen to sometimes,
but I think this album slides in under the house umbrella. It's deep
funky jazzy house, however, which keeps me from despising it as I do
most of the genre. Spinna's set is entirely made up of tracks from the
Guidance Recordings catalogue, a label that has released "everything
from deep Chicago house to dub, ambient, break beats, and hip-hop."
There's some unique stuff on here in addition to the standard
booty-shakers, and it was the variety that won me over. I would be
very happy chilling out to this mix after an evening of overindulgence.
