Drums & Tuba
|
With a name like Drums & Tuba, you might be expecting polka. Far from it. There are definitely drums and a tuba (along with other horns) involved, but what results is much closer to Mike Watt than the Chicken Dance. My favorite track on the album is "The Donkey and the Walrus", in which the instrumental elements come together in a funky droning soundscape. The music never takes itself too seriously, experimenting freely without any pretension and sometimes veering off into wonderfully complex arrangements. Idiosyncracies abound, and that's the way I like it.
