Swing Set
Ani DiFranco
|
For the Ani completist, a lovely little EP built around the song "Swing" from her album To The Teeth. "Swing" is one of my favorite songs from that album thanks to how it gets me grooving every time, though I still can't quite figure out what it's about. She's singing about a girl and she seems a little crazy and there's this faucet that's dripping...Anyway, besides the radio edit and the album version of "Swing", this EP also features a remix of DiFranco's "To The Teeth" and a trio of covers: Woody Guthrie's "Do Re Me", Phil Ochs's "When I'm Gone", and "Hurricane" by Bob Dylan (which features Ani growling and wailing in good form). I feel like "To The Teeth" has very little impact in this mix, which is kind of a shame. Check out the album version if this one is too quiet and pretty for you. Otherwise this is a great representation of Ani's versatility and her activism.
