Another one of my London purchases, though Loss was just
recently released in the States as well. So now you too can get
sucked into the pop vortex that is Mull Historical Society. I'd like
to believe that "Watching Xanadu" really does refer to the Olivia
Newton-John film, and it has the tendency to make me sing along at the
top of my lungs while bopping crazily around my living room. The
poignant "Only I" is firmly anchored by piano in the manner of Badly
Drawn Boy (with some lovely accordian and horns as well), while "Mull
Historical Society" is a good old-fashioned groovy call to action.
And there are sheep and highland cattle in the CD booklet. What more
could you want?
She's watching xanadu
She says she can't love you
She can do anything, yeah she can love anything
She says there's a photograph
She says it's the saddest thing
Yeah but you never call, yeah but you never ring
"Watching Xanadu"
Only I, know how hard I try
To get nowhere, to get nowhere
Only you, know the sunshine rules
I care for you
I care for you
"Only I"
If you can't find
Your peace of mind
