Bananarama
|
Ah, nostalgia. Never mind that Gillette has appropriated "Venus" to
sell women's razors (after Bananarama themselves appropriated it from
Shocking Blue anyway) or that in retrospect the music sounds a tad
sugary, tracks like "Cruel Summer" and "He Was Really Sayin'
Something" represent pure '80s girl-pop. Truthfully, I lived too
sheltered a childhood in Orange County to have encountered much '80s
music the first time around aside from a few tunes I remember from
the roller rink. So now I can groove to Bananarama and pretend that
I do it with irony.
