The strips in this book appeared over the course of ten years, and reading them all together is a great way to see these characters develop. Marlys and Arna seem to stay about the same age throughout, which is not to say that nothing important happens to them. Barry has a beautiful grasp of the little moments that occur in childhood that we remember throughout the rest of our lives. Funny, poignant, and beautiful.
